Course Information

Academy Auto School offers the following driver education package:

thirty (30) hours of classroom study

twelve (12) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction

six (6) hours of observation time

PRICE: $595.00

This Driver's Ed Package will consist of thirty (30) hours of classroom study, twelve (12) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and six (6) hours of observation time. The total cost for this course is $595.00, payable in two installments. A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 is due upon registration. This will be applied toward the total cost of the course. The final balance of $395.00 will be due on the second Monday of class. Additional driving lessons for current students are $40.00 per lesson.
Note: There will be no driving lessons scheduled for anyone who has not paid tuition in full.

There is also a Mandatory 2 hour informational class for parents included in this fee.
All students must bring a pen or pencil and a notebook with them for each class along with a driver’s ed manual that may be obtained at no charge from the local RMV.

CLASS SCHEDULES:
New classes are held every month usually on the first Monday of each month. Please check the web link www.academyautoschool.com for a current schedule of classes.
Classes are held Mon-Fri 2:30-5:30 for a two week period, or on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm for a three week and 1 day period. We also offer 1 week accelerated classes at certain times during the year. A student is not allowed to miss any classes unless it is due to unforeseen circumstances. The student must make up the same class as they missed during the next session. The Drivers Ed program must be completed within two (2) years from the first class. NO EXCEPTIONS.

ON-ROADS
Driving time will not be scheduled until after the completion of the classroom portion. NO APPOINTMENTS WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT PAID IN FULL.As required by law, students must also complete (40) forty hours of behind-the-wheel driving with a parent. The student must hold a learners permit for a full six months before they are eligible for a driver’s license. We start the driving lessons after they have held their permit for 2-3 months and have had a minimum of 12 hours with a parent. Driving lessons are scheduled as follows: Two (2) lessons will be booked after the completion of the classroom portion. If a student exhibits that he/she is getting practice at home and is a safe driver, then the next (4) four lessons will be scheduled and then after those have been completed the remaining six (6) may be scheduled.
Students may be picked up at home/school/work if they are North Andover residents. Out of town residents will have to be brought and picked up at Academy Auto School unless prior arrangements are made. If a student is scheduled for a driving lesson, they must be prepared. They must have their permit with them and all pertinent information must be legible and all restrictions must be adhered to - I.e. corrective lenses if required. A (24 ) hour notice must be given by the student or parent if they are cancelling an appointment.
There will be a $30.00 fee if the student cancels less than 24 hours or does not have a valid permit with them for their road lesson. This fee must be paid prior to any scheduled road lessons. If the fee is not paid, any future road lessons will be cancelled and will need to be rescheduled.

DRIVER'S EDUCATION CERTIFICATE & ROAD TEST
Driver’s ed certificates are issued upon completion of classroom (30) hours, (12) Hours of behind the wheel training(6)hours of observation and the parent class.
There is a $15.00 fee payable directly to the RMV for this certificate. The license test may not be booked until this fee is paid. This fee is not included in the tuition.
Academy Auto School now offers on site license testing on Saturday mornings twice a month. The cost for this service is $75.00 for current students. This does not include the $60.00 fee for the license itself. All students are welcome to take the license test at the RMV on their own. They must have a vehicle with a hand operated emergency brake located between the two front seats. If you wish to take your road test here at the school you must have everything completed at least two weeks before the scheduled exam. All license applications and fees must be paid for before you are scheduled. Please speak with the secretary for more information about this service.
